I wasn't a hero
just a villain pulling the curtains
everyone says that's a good guy around your arm
but its the same bad boy pulling at your skirt
hes the kinda boy that messes with the alarm
overslept in the morning and made you late for work
if you love him
keep him close
and he'll keep you at a distance
don't play his games
don't fall in his eyes
that's called resistance

She turned to her left and said I have something here.
She replied with a cold shoulder and couldn't hold in her fear.
"I feel a spark, but I don't see any fireworks."
I hope she gets what I meant.
"I just don't want you to be a failed experiment."
Laying in bed she couldn't find a reason to smile.
Clutching her pillow to her chest,
she says, "I'm gonna need a while."
Feathers stick to her breath,
a warm sweat to offset the tears.

Someone's gotta be right in this place.
But what to do when nobody can point out
the differences between me and you.
Stay five feet apart.
I don't want to catch a case of what you got.
Because what you got is two times double a lot.
~*~*~*~*~
I heard you calling up your sweetie,
but honey, his phone hasn't rang
for at least a hundred days.
Pressed and primped you wait
for a door to swing open
and take you away.
But hes not coming home to you,
he's just here to pick up his things.
Boxed and packaged he waits out on the porch.
The rain never fell too kindly on his face.

Another night the moon hangs high like a thorn
Come to cut the day in half
To satisfy the horde
Of trembling
Figures resembling
Shadows painted on brick
And you blanket the road
When you lay it on thick
Too rough too cold
Too young too old
Meek shall inherit the bold
And slice away all the snow
~*~*~*~*~
She found a light
Admitted it wasn't all perfect
Chipped at the edge
Riddled with defects
Placed on a sill
Gathering dust and moonlight

I was slight right
In a sleight of hands
My legs fold out backwards
My feet misunderstand
Take shelter in the woods!
Suspended in motion
"Woulds, shoulds, and coulds"
Take the boat to the ocean.

I'm not lonely anymore
but i know some who are
but if being lonely is shutting yourself in
then we can talk about it
that's a place I've been
if I'm being honest
it's a sleazy motel I'm ashamed to share I've been visiting
never take your friends for granted
don't fold yourself on second chances
just see every day
as a step in the right direction
don't be afraid of making mistakes
correct them as many times as you like
this is your life
my baby said I hide so much behind my eyes
I guess it takes some time to get it right.
