Through a child's guise,
a wandering line,
a blur between reality and lies.
Deception,
beautiful,
what lies through the mind's eye,
ivy lining,
a castle high.
With a gate so tall,
and walls so white.
Across a break in the road,
tree branch reaching,
alive.
'Cross stone and pavement,
a road crumbling,
breaking.
Wolf howling loud,
running,
and running.
Blackberry bushes,
an empty swing,
lemon trees clouding,
fruit that sing.
And a warm drink of water,
on those first cold days,
to mark the distant coming of spring.
Then sun shimmers on green,
and sunflowers line a busy street.
Running through the orchard trees,
with an innocent gleam.
Princess, friend, and mysterious man,
from the moon,
a masquerade plan.
World to world,
life to life.
Dawn to dusk,
a game.
Dance the dance,
survive.
