Once upon a time I loved you

You were my saving grace

But now you’ve left me all alone

With barely the memory of your face

I never had the chance to hold you

Or feel you against my skin

We said the time was never right

Even when it was wearing thin

I learned to love without affection

Made happy with only your smile

So when you found yourself with another

I knew I would be fine after awhile 

But she became your whole world

Leaving me in the dust

Even when she destroyed you

You tried to swear it was more than lust

Day by day I watched you

Struggle with her careless ways

I tried to save you from her madness

Reminding you of better days

You were always the white knight

Saving those who can’t be saved

This fire was too strong to fight against

As I watched you become enslaved

Then one day you were gone

The friend I loved in spite of it all

No goodbye to settle my troubled mind

I was left to fall

Two years have passed since I last saw you

Not a word has been passed between

I still hear whispers of your life

And troubles that were unforeseen

I hope the stories are all just that

Fairy tales that cover the truth

That you found happiness away from here

A home beyond our hopeless youth

I know that I will always love you

But I hope you never come back

You weren’t the man I thought I knew

A lone wolf too desperate for a pack
