On Neptune's great lake,
was a shrine so great,
shrouded in lilies,
and fronds ripe to take.
The maidens of Neptune,
sirens of the water,
sang songs of great triumph,
and the beauty of their daughters.
One day a man from earth found their path,
and they brought him inside
to shelter the planet's wrath.
Into their temple,
the man was brought.
Where magic danced and nothing could be bought.
One of the daughters of Neptune was there,
to soothe him and breathe into him her pure air.
Whereas before he had wished to go home,
he now wished to stay in their exotic affair.
And so the man stayed with the maidens,
and drifted in slumber,
dreaming of heavens.
But so as he slept they took him away,
and locked him up tight in their decadent cage.
For if the strange creature on their planet should stay,
he'd belong to them forever,
lost to song,
an unbreakable chain.
For the maidens of Neptune had never seen a man,
intrigued and inspired,
he was all theirs,
and they had new plans.
