Waiting for the sunset

on a beach far from the city,
was a girl full of regret,
who's heart was swirling,
hazy,
tipsy.

So she wrote a little note,
and stuffed it down into a bottle.
Surrender thoughts to rolling waves,
the letter claimed by gentle ocean.

Wishes and hopes and apologies
sailed away on the open sea.
And as the sun set
and painted her eyelids with red,
she knew that forgiveness had to be her friend.

No one else was there to forgive,
it was up to her to wash away her sins.
So as the sun set,
she let calming waves wash over.
To cleanse her in light,
as the moon came,
not to scold her.

And so she decided to chase to stars,
she ran along the coastline,
without the busy sounds of cars.
All she could hear was the song of the birds,
as her little bottle drifted away,
thoughts remedied and her fears gone astray.
